A renowned designer, both locally and on the international stage, thanks to his incredibly authentic and sophisticated guayabera designs, Hipólito Ramón Peña Rodriguez has become the epitome of Dominican craftsmanship and sartorial excellence.
His vocation for fashion began at just 7 years old when he attended a vocational school in Santiago, where he studied tailoring. For more than 40 years, Hipólito has been assigned the task of dressing important figures in the region, and continues to be synonymous with purposeful style, dressing men and women with elegance and poise.
He has earned the reputation of "Tailor of Presidents" as, over time, numerous political leaders, dignitaries and heads of state from all over the world have worn his designs. For example, in 2002, the then president of the Dominican Republic, Hipólito Mejía, a regular wearer of Hippólito’s pieces, gave two guayaberas to each one of the 20 presidents that attended the XII Ibero-American Summit held in Punta Cana –including the King of Spain Juan Carlos– considering it suitable for the hot environment of our region and the formality of the event.
Beyond the realm of politics, Hipólito has also dressed prominent figures from the entertainment, sports, and business sectors, further cementing his legacy as a designer of unparalleled repute. His couture suits and guayaberas have attained global recognition, earning him seven awards from the Apparel Executives and Designers Association Convention. Currently serving as the Vice President of IACDE Latin America, Hipólito continues to shape the fashion landscape with his visionary creations.
Each meticulously crafted stitch in Hipólito’s designs reflects his unwavering precision and dedication, embodying the essence of Dominican spirit and charm.
